  2. **When participants reported that “some” or “most” of their close friends (versus “none” or “one or two”) had an alcohol or drug problem, the variable was coded positively.
  3. ***We considered that a family history of alcohol or drug problems was present when participants reported at least one parent or sibling with an alcohol or drug problem.
